Ordering and Shipping Information

Ordering:

Custom instruments, those other than the Fantasia and Recercar model lutes, cannot be returned for a refund. The buyer agrees to send the deposit to start work on the instrument, and to send the balance plus shipping expenses when the instrument is complete. If the instrument is deemed unsuitable by the buyer, a replacement instrument will be made and the two instruments will be exchanged.

The deposit required to start the instrument is 30% of the price of the instrument, including all added features, if any. This is a non-refundable deposit. If, for some reason, the buyer decides not to accept delivery of the instrument upon completion, or at any point during its construction, this deposit will not be returned. At the time of receiving the deposit, Daniel Larson will give the buyer an estimted delivery date.

Payments:

Payments by check: The deposit can be made by personal check, money order, or cashier's check. The balance, plus shipping, can can be sent as either a personal check, money order, or cashier's check. If a personal check is sent for the balance, a period of five days must pass before the instrument is sent out. If a cashier's check or money order is sent, the instrument may be sent out immediately upon completion.

Payments by credit card: A 4.50% processing fee will be made to all credit card payments for instrument and shipping transactions. If the balance plus shipping is paid by credit card, the instrument can be sent out immediately upon completion.

Shipping information:

Lutes are shipped via FedEx, with your choice of fedEx service.

Theorbos and archlutes are best picked up in  person.  If theyaere shipped, they are packed in a wooden crate and sent via truck freight.

Smaller instruments like violins and mandolins can be sent via Express Mail which is the same service as FedEx air, at about half the price and I recommend this method for instruments that can fit within the size restrictions for this service, which is a box that is 37" long x 17" wide x 15" high.

When the instrument is ready, I will contact you with the prices on the shipping options for you to choose.

Renaissance lutes, violins, renaissance guitars and mandolins can go into a standard sized box and the packing cost for these instruments is $15.00, which is added to the shipping charge.

Baroque guitars and baroque lutes need to have special boxes made for them and there is a $45.00 packing charge for these instruments, which is added to the shipping charge.

Theorbos need to be packed in a wooden crate for shipping by truck and there is a $185.00 packing charge for these instruments in addition to the motor freight charge.

All instruments need to be fully insured for shipping.

Any damage that occurs during shipping needs to be reported to the carrier right away.
