Mandolino
I am pleased to offer a mandolino for the Baroque mandolin repertoire. There are various styles of instruments that survive. Some are narrow and some are wider. I have chosen one of the wide-bodied styles as the model for my reproduction because it is comfortable and easy to play, with a very full tone. It is based on an instrument in the Victoria and Albert museum in London, England. The original was made in Paris in the workshop of Nicholas Lambert c. 1750.
It is an ideal instrument for beginners and experienced players and has been successfully set up for finger-style and plectrum playing. The tone is very sweet with a sustaining ring and very good carrying power.
The instrument package includes the instrument with the features described below plus a form fitting Kingham case.

Basic Mandolino features:

  • String Length - 34 cm
  • Body length - 25 cm
  • Body width - 17.5 cm
  • Body depth - 9 cm

  • Italian spruce front
  • Maple or cherry neck and head
  • Ebony veneered neck with spruce core
  • Ebony fingerboard
